Packers Give Fans One More Thing To Be Thankful For

Posted November 24th, 2011 @ 08:11pm

It wasn't the shootout most predicted, but the Packers had more than enough ammunition to quiet the kitties, avenging their only loss in 1962. For the first time in the team's 90+ year history, they are 11-0 and for all intents and purposes have wrapped up the NFC North before the turkey was carved.

Huge props to the Packer defense. Following a familiar script, they surrendered big chunks of yards, but kept the Lions off the scoreboard and made big plays--with interceptions by Matthews, Francois and Woodson. Once Kevin Smith went out in the first half with a knee injury, the running game disappeared and Stafford was out of his comfort zone.

Meanwhile, after a slow start, the Packers offense took over in the third quarter. Rodgers was his usual stealthy self, leading a precision-laced drive culminating in a Greg Jennings score and following it up hitting James Jones on a post route that went 65 yards for a score. A 7-0 halftime lead was now 21-0 and there would be no Komeback Kitties on this day against this defense.

The most resonant moment came when thug Ndamukong Suh forgot all about his pow-wow with the Commish a couple of weeks ago and tried to stomp Evan Dietrich-Smith's arm off. He was immediately tossed and will likely be told to stay in street clothes for the Lions' next game. For a guy with a world of talent, he will not be regarded a superstar in this league until he learns what sportsmanship is. Someone forgot to tell him the Lions are featured in the new "Play 60" commercial. He thought it was called "Play 33."

The victory did not come without a cost. We'll find out the severity of the various injuries in the coming days, but Desmond Bishop left early, as did Josh Sitton. Next to leave was A.J. Hawk with a calf injury and Erik Walden got knocked out, but was able to return. Rookie DJ Smith looked good, replacing Bishop--and Francois got his pick shortly after coming in to replace Hawk. James Starks started the game but did not play in the second half--hopefully the 10 days rest before the Giants game will allow most, if not all to return to action.

As we sit down to our Thanksgiving dinners with family and friends, we'll be talking about our 11-0 Packers. The classic sports cliche says that Super Bowl champs have a target on their backs--that you get everybody's best shot. Well everybody's best shot has come up short 11 times in 11 tries and the Packers are five wins away from a perfect regular season.

The pecan pie will taste extra sweet tonight. Happy Thanksgiving one and all and Go Pack!

Well that family table you bhougt from me certainly will make living small a little harder for you but I cannot think of anyone I would want to sit around it. Who knows. If a great flood happens the table could float your whole family out to safety. Much love Maya

that would be the light from the computer sceern. Try breaking up your time in front of the computer into time limited chunks. Annoying, yes but it may help and could even slow down the migraines Also this can vary with the type of sceern you have on your computer eg Matt or LED sceerns will be less strain on your eyes than LCD sceerns I used to really struggle in front of the computer when studying and writing reports at work because too much time in front of the computer sceern would trigger migraines.

- By the looks of it, they practice in some fraliy cold temps too. How long did they give you to shoot during practice? Not long I imagine! Nice shots.

JT,The amount Packers ijnured and on IR exposed Mike Brown's long time excuses of bad luck and unexpected injuries. Aaron Rodgers, what more can I say about this guy's play. Even with multiples key drops, he found a way to rally his team to victory. That's what Carson failed to do his entire Bengal career and this city has always make excuses for him blaming the WRs and everybody else.As to the Steelers, I hate them but have lots of respect for them. Even with 3 turnovers, they still had a chance to make a game winning drive. However, it was time. We've seen Big Ben bring them back and winning late time and again. That's not always going to work, they have gone to that well far too many time.

sloppy . At one point one camrea showed James Farrior on the sidelines yawning and it was still the 1st Q. To me, thats a clear indication of over confidence.Packers win wasn't a surprise to me because I predicted they were going to anyway.

...Very observant post. In the US, gettnig similar service is really expensive. We pack our own stuff. All types packing material and tools are available for nominal fee in many stores. For really heavy items (much heavier than washing machine), people get some help. For shorter distance we rent a truck on our own and move ourselves. For long distance moving, we can either move ourselves or rent a national mover.In town moves cost around $600 - $1000 dollars. Out of state move costs $8000 and up.//?? ? .. ? ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ?? ? ? 50000 ? ? ? ?? ? ..? ?? ? ? ? ? ?? ??? ? ? ? ? .. //I wonder how does moving process happen in Western European countries?//? ? ?? ?? ? ?? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ?.. ? ? ? ? ? ?..

Suh is a thug. Detroit's players are as classless as their coach. They have a lot of growing up to do. Happy Pack'sgiving everyone! Sweet Sixteen won't be long now: enjoy the ride!

Well, well, well....I was nervious. Thug team at home that was out to get our boys hurt. Rogers was brilliant with the quick passes and using a patient surgical disassembly of what is turning out to be a pretty average team ...especially in the disclipline department. 10 days to rest from a gruling 3 games in 11 days and we out to be ready to rest some guys while giving other guys some valuable experience going forward while still keeping the streak going. What a team. What a coach. What a GM. Look at how far the Vikings have to go to even see the taillights of the Bears and Lions and 49ers, much less their hated neighbors to the east. On another matter, I was shocked that #4 was not picked up or signed for a "short season" stint given the many teams who needed a west coast offense quick fix. What a truly wonderful run that has kept this unique franchise on the leading edge for so many years.

The Packers thrive on games that give them national exposure. They love to show the rest of the league that they've got their house in order. 16-0 is a tough task, but it's hard to find a loss on the remainder of the schedule. They are just superior to the rest of the NFL, and it isn't even close.

Smh...the packers got every call the lions didnt, i think i know why they are 11-0 now...cuz they defense still sucks, overrated sorry

"Smh...the packers got every call the lions didnt, i think i know why they are 11-0 now...cuz they defense still sucks, overrated sorry" That's solid english bud, and how can a 11-0 coming off a super bowl win be over rated? There's no way other to rate them than #1. Throw in the fact that they are beating teams on average 35 to 21 and I think most will agree you're a moron.

Detroit got outclassed in every way today. Hopefully, Suh gets suspended for more than one game. He needs help and the Lion's discipline problems point to a failure in the Lions organization from the top down. Rodgers was great once again and the quality roster depth paid major dividends.

This was the Defenders and the Pretenders. The Lions were shown to be made of little more then parade float applique. The Defense of bend but don't let them score returned and their best shot wasn't good enough. We'll see them again, sure, but out of their den, well, these lions will just look like yesterday's news.
